Kick off the new year with hands-on homesteading skills your students will love! Each Friday in January features a different farmstead activity designed to teach confidence, stewardship, and real-life skills they can apply to homesteading or farming. Think of it as a real-life science lesson!

This class is open to students who are not currently enrolled in our Farmstead Micro-School program. Step Up direct billing approved! Feel free to share with other homeschoolers.

January 2026 Themes
Five weeks of hands-on farmstead learning
Firekeeping & Winter Cooking
Students gather natural tinder, learn safe fire-building, and make simple campfire food.
Soap Making & Natural Cleaners
We will create our own lye, make melt-and-pour goat milk soaps, and mix natural items to create holistic cleaners.
Dairy Day
Students learn how we milk goats and make butter, sour cream, and cheese.
Sourdough Starter, Candle Making & Natural Dyes
Students learn how to start and maintain a sourdough starter. We'll make beeswax candles and explore simple natural dyes.
Fermentation & Food Preservation
Students make a simple jar of sauerkraut or brined pickles, learn about good bacteria, and explore traditional preservation methods.
